Basic Clean Includes:

Kitchen

  • All cupboard fronts, front and top of fridge and clean and shine chrome handles
  • All counter tops and sinks
  • Front and tops of stove including the range hood
  • Floors scrubbed on hands and knees including all base boards
  • Low hanging light fixtures
  • Clean outside of all small appliances (including microwave)
  • Clean and shine sink and taps
  • Spot wash walls
  • Empty garbage; reline garage can

Bathrooms

  • Clean the sink, tub, shower, toilet and counter top
  • Clean the inside of the toilet
  • Clean and shine the bathtub surround/wall tiles.
  • Clean and shine mirrors.
  • Clean and shine taps.
  • Clean towel bar and toilet paper holder
  • Clean shower doors and the tracks they run on.
  • Fold and hang the towels.
  • Spot wash walls by the towel bar, toilet and light switch.
  • Wipe fronts of cupboards.
  • Clean soap dishes and wipe down bottles on the counter top.
  • Empty garbage; reline garbage can if there is a bag.

Dusting

  • Dust all furniture. Make sure entire surface is clean including the corners.
  • Pickup and shake all doilies and then replace them on the tables.
  • Dust all ornaments.
  • Dust sides as well as legs of furniture.
  • Dust picture frames.
  • Dust from top to bottom of everything, e.g., dresser drawers.
  • Make up unmade beds and change the linen ( if it is laid out)

Floors

  • Sweep or vacuum floor before washing.
  • Move table and chairs to wash floor.
  • Clean corners and edges along the wall. Do all baseboards.
  • Shake out or vacuum all area rugs before replacing them on the clean floor.

Vacuuming

  • Vacuum carpet using the pattern.
  • Vacuum your way out of a room.
  • Vacuum going down the stairs, not up.
  • Move all moveable furniture before vacuuming, and replace it.
  • Vacuum couch and chair cushions. Vacuum under cushions too.
  • Vacuum under the beds.

New Home Construction Clean-Up

  • Clean the entire house, in every nook and cranny.
  • Bathroom
  • Do COMPLETELY.
  • Wash all tiled walls or tub surrounds.
  • Wherever there is writing -- on the toilet, on lino, etc. -- wash if off .
  • Do inside the bathroom cupboards and drawers too.
  • Remember to wet-wipe ALL surfaces, including the sides and tops and underside of drawers.
  • Don't remove stickers from shower or tub which tell the home owner how to clean it.
  • Kitchen
  • Don't remove stickers from appliances.
  • Don't need to touch the inside of the fridge, stove or dishwasher, but wipe off all dust and shine the outsides (including the sides and backs).
  • Cupboards: Vacuum out every shelf, every corner, every drawer, then wet wipe the entire cupboard: every shelf, side piece, and top piece needs to be wiped.
  • Do the tops of the cupboards too.
  • Drawers: Remove and clean every surface on the inside, outside and on top.

General Cleaning

  • Lino/tile/hardwood floors: Sweep, then vacuum, especially in the corners and along all the baseboards. Then wash including all baseboards.
  • Scrub off any writing on door frames or walls.
  • Carpet: Vacuum thoroughly, including all edges and corners. Wet-wipe all baseboards.
  • Take out the floor register, clean out the pipe, vacuum it out, then wet wipe it. Clean the register and replace it.
  • Walls: Obviously newly painted, but may have a few smudges from workmen. Wipe marks off all walls, as well as all doors.
  • Doors: Clean the inside and outside of all exit doors, including any glass.
  • Basement: Sweep completely, or vacuum, including between the studs.
  • Furnace: Open the furnace and vacuum out everything. Close it again. Wipe down the outside of the furnace, hot water heater and pipes.
  • Do ALL light fixtures completely.
  • Do the insides of all windows, and the outsides, where reachable. If stickers are still on the windows, scrape them off (wet them first), then clean the windows.
  • Wipe every baseboard, window sill and window/door frame.
  • Make sure every corner of every cupboard, drawer, floor, closet, shelf, etc. is vacuumed first to get all the fine dust out.
  • The house should be spotless and dust-free on every surface, inside and out, and sparkling for the people to move into their brand-new home!
